Sajjadul Hasan, a former senior secretary in the PM’s office, chairman of the board of directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and a member of the Awami League’s central information and research sub-committee, continued to distribute relief items to flood victims in various unions and Mohanganj municipal areas of Netrokona’s Mohanganj upazila. On Wednesday (June 22), Sajjadul Hasan, accompanied by Netrokona Deputy Commissioner Anjana Khan Majlish, visited Mohanganj municipal area and various flood-affected areas of the upazila, damaged roads and shelters for the second day. During this time, he supervised the overall situation of the people taking shelter in the shelters and distributed relief items including cooked food among the flood-affected families. Besides, he participated in an exchange meeting with the teachers at Adarshnagar Shaheed Smriti Mahabidyalaya auditorium and gave various directions. He was accompanied by Mohanganj Municipal Mayor Latifur Rahman Ratan, District Awami League Joint Secretary Nur Khan Mithu, Mohanganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sabbir Ahmed Akunji, Khaliajuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Ariful Islam, Mohanganj Assistant Commissioner (Land), Police Officer-in-Charge and others. Department officials, local political leaders and journalists from print and electronic media.
In this regard, Municipal Mayor Latifur Rahman Ratan said, Sajjadul Hasan is a humanitarian leader. He has inquired about the overall flood situation from me through his mobile phone from Dhaka. One of his fans has given financial assistance of ten thousand rupees to his bereaved family through me. He has already distributed about two and a half tons of food items in the shelters of various educational institutions within the municipality alone. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sabbir Ahmed Akunji said, “Sajjadul Hasan Sir is always looking for Banavasi people.” He distributed about 9 tons of relief items in different unions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile, on behalf of Sajjadul Hasan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Ariful Islam distributed relief materials among 200 families in different villages of Mendipur Union of flood-hit Khaliajuri Upazila in the afternoon. Upazila Awami League leader Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury was with him at the time.
