Last Thursday, the Minister of Culture of the Nation, Tristán Bauer, and the mayor of Avellaneda, Alejo Chornobroff, visited the Isla Maciel Foundation where they enjoyed the music of the La Pandilla Orchestra. The director of the Orchestra, Bernardo Scherman, recalled the origins: he said that the orchestra was born on August 1, 2018, and that it bears the name of an old neighborhood club that worked in the place.
This initiative was born to favor the inclusion and integration through musical teaching in orchestral practice, of children and adolescents who live in conditions of violation of their rights. After the presentation, Minister Bauer gave the children instruments and congratulated them, and also thanked the teachers for their commitment.
“Culture is made by you. It is fundamental for the people,” he said, adding: “From the Ministry and the Commune we are going to continue supporting you.” For his part, Mayor Chornobroff said: “We are proud of you. What you do is very important.” In addition, he advanced the intention of holding a meeting of orchestras. The secretary of Cultural Management of the Nation, Federico Prieto, participated in the activity; the director of the Isla Maciel Foundation, Claudio Freda; and the local Undersecretary of Culture, Federico Bonaldi.
